Thank you very much for your consideration to support the Children’s Dental Health Project.
CDHP is a 12-year effort to advance policies that improve oral health for vulnerable children. Our “to do” list expanded dramatically with passage of the recent CHIP legislation, signed by the President in February and introduction of Health Reform.
• We will continue to work closely with federal agency officials as they take responsibility for the CHIPRA’s provisions;
• We will focus on assisting states to encourage rapid implementation;
• We will work with our network of professional, child advocacy, governmental, and industry groups to make implementation of children’s oral health a top national priority;
• We must enhance new and existing partnerships to increase attention to the preventable nature of dental disease, and the need to assure access to care for all our nation’s childrenl;
• And we will continue our intensive efforts to inform Congress about issues important to oral health in Health Reform.
We appreciate that our efforts lead directly to increased coverage which, in turn, lead to greater care by dentists and an expanding market for dental product manufacturers and suppliers. This represents a “win-win-win” for children, dental providers, and the larger dental industry.
